The final conference of the Erasmus+ Project SkillSea – Future-proof skills for the maritime transport sector was held yesterday, 31 May 2023, in Brussels after four years of intensive work and strong cooperation among partners. The conference was attended by Lidia Rossi and Mariachiara Sormani, as representatives of ForMare.
The project aims at fostering the cooperation at European level between the maritime industry, education and training providers and Authorities in order to develop a Skills’ Sustainable Strategy for maritime professionals that is future proof, adaptable and attractive. The consortium, composed of 27 members from 16 countries, saw ForMare engaged as co-leader of one of the project activities (WP5) and Confitarma as member of the Advisory Board.
During the conference, it took place a debate dedicated to the future-skills of maritime professionals. In this context, Mariachiara Sormani intervened to emphasize how cooperation models, proposed by the SkillSea project, can be a valuable support in fostering the matching of skills in the maritime sector at European and national levels.
The discussion was also attended by representatives from DG EMPL and DG MOVE, as well as the maritime industry, training centers, social partners and students.
